Edition VII Summer 2002

WHO WE ARE
The Wharf Rats are a group of concert-goers who have chosen to live drug and alcohol free. Our primary purpose at shows is to make ourselves available to anyone who feels we may have something they want. We don’t tell others how to attend their show. We offer clean and sober support, strength, fellowship and hope. We are not affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous nor any other twelve-step group. We are a group of friends sharing a common bond, providing support, information and some traction in an otherwise slippery environment. Look for the yellow balloons, signs and the Wharf Rats information table.

Greetings,Wharf Rats!

Summer’s here Wharf Rats! Welcome to the 7th edition of the Wharf Rats Newsletter, brought to you through the loving contributions of Wharf Rats everywhere. For all of you who stopped by the tables this last year, we want you to know thatyou are part of every submission enclosed here..... if not for you.... To “keep it by giving it away” is an old friend andtradition present at every table at every show, so thanks for coming, and our hope is that when you read the messagessent in by Wharf Rats across the country you will be inspired to join us at the table, write to us on line and at thenewsletter volunteers addresses inside, and that you will know that the messages are written for us, by us and about usto demonstrate that recovery and music are not only possible, but coexisting in beautiful harmony. The NewYear’s Eve shows were especially great this year and were well represented by Wharf Rats from all over the country. Agrand time was had by all, it was so great to see Wharf Rats meeting face to face when they had only known each otherfrom phone calls, emails, the Wharf Rat’s List_serv and tales told by candlelight and smudge sticks in our living rooms. Here’s to new friends made this year, and a huge thanks for everyone who helped out at the tables. When we saw you there, did you know youwere absolutely shining!!!!

This year we have new volunteers who will be undertaking a New Years Eve Issue of the newsletter. Welcome Tom & Melody from Seal Beach, CA, and thanks for being of service. Use the email address inside, under contacts to send in a message for the NYE issue.

So here again is our offering to you, on the road, or just attending from your home town. May the tour be kind andwonderful to you. Look for the Wharf Rat’s tale at your local, or not so local, venues, we will do our best to be there.
